Day 8

It was a very rainy day today. This is my cat, Mouse, looking out the window.
Happy New Year!

Day 7

This is one of the TTV shots I did while trying out my new contraption today. I put my Brownie camera inside a long cardboard box that my tripod came in, and cut a rectangle in the front for the lenses. My Canon Rebel goes at the top of the contraption and looks down into the viewfinder of the Brownie :)

Day 6

I got this cute Brownie Reflex camera from someone on etsy. I'm not using it with film, but instead I'm going to use it for TTV photography (stands for Through The Viewfinder). I'm going to make a cardboard tube to attach to the top of the Brownie camera and then point my DSLR down through the tube (blocks any light reflecting into the viewfinder). This enables me to take a digital photo through the viewfinder of the old TLR camera! The lens has some dirt/dust on the inside, which just adds more character, and I'll crop my photos so they're just the square frame of the Brownie camera.
I'm excited to play with it! You can see some other people's TTV photos in this Flickr group, if you're interested.

Day 3

Don't worry - it's not a real candy cane. But those are real chompers!
This is Bear Mountain, one of my four kitties (day 1 was Mouse).

Day 2

The setting winter sun. I love sun flare!
This was taken in Elmsdale, beside Taralynn's dad's house where we went for Christmas dinner :)

It Begins!

Today I begin my 365 Project. I have a few goals for myself, and hopes for what I'd like to get out of this project.
By the end of the year I want to have grown and explored my photography. I want to try new things and get out of my "comfort zone". I want to teach myself to look at the world differently and to slow down so I can see the beauty that I might not see at first glance.
I think I'd like to try for a self-portrait each week, but I may not stick to that one :) I will try new things with my post-processing and try my hand at more conceptual photography as opposed to whatever it is I do now (mostly shooting what I see around me without any pre-meditation or setup).
I want to learn how to set up and use lighting equipment to get some of the shots that need it.
So those are my goals for the year and I'm sure I'll come up with some more as I go along. But without further ado, here is today's shot. Merry Christmas Eve!
